Bali’s food options are simply epic! You will never get disappointed, it’s all exceptionally delicious. There is a bit of everything for every kind of foodie. Being a health foodie myself I found it easy to eat healthy throughout my holiday, and if I wanted a little cheat, there was that too. We tried everything whilst we were there, from acai bowls to suckling pork to Nasi Campur.
What I love about the traditional Balinese cuisine, is that it is so varied, I love the concept of Nasi Campur, where you get a plate with a serving of rice accompanied by different little dishes. These little dishes ranged from chicken, fried tempeh, wilted spinach to spiced okra. Everything is well seasoned and its just a little explosive party in your mouth. I was obsessed with their way of eating.
We have been to Bali twice because we love it so much, so we had the opportunity to really try out the food in different places. So I thought I’d share a few of my favourite places we absolutely would go back to!
Warung SOPA – Ubud
This is simply the best vegan food I’ve tried in my entire life, we went here pretty much every day either for lunch or dinner, it’s hands down my most favourite place to eat in Bali. The food is authentic, super flavourful, and you can’t get enough of it! I mean I can go as far as to say, that I could fully turn vegan if I knew how to cook like this. The restaurant in itself, is super light, airy and has this organic feel to it. This is a MUST-TRY!
Nalu Bowls – Seminyak
If you are one of those smoothie bowl fanatics like me, you must go to Nalu Bowls. The bowls with their homemade granola is just too great to pass up on. Also, the surfy kinda look, creates this happy holiday ocean swept vibe. I always get the ACAI BOWL which is called the ‘Mavericks’, I AM OBSESSED! Also, try their bliss balls after devouring your smoothie bowl, the coconut one, is a total dream.
Warung Babi Guling Ibu Oka – Ubud
Did anyone say succulent crispy pork?? YAS! Ubud is renowned for their vegan food but also this suckling roast pork, quite the opposite on the food spectrum. At first, I was quite reluctant to try this out but pretty much every local resident told us to eat at Ibu Oka and try the suckling pig. JESUS, it’s insanely good! We went there twice. The best part, the ever so crispy skin, this is worth breaking your healthy habits for a meal!
Sarong – Seminyak
If you love a good curry (sorry the picture is totally not sharp but the lighting is very dim, what can ya do?), then you gotta try Sarong! Enjoy fantastic Indian food whilst being surrounded by beautiful decor and candle lit vibes. This place is amazing for special occasions or a laidback elegant date night. I love their chicken tikka with turmeric roasted garlic on the side (keeping it healthy). Likewise, the butter chicken with naan is phenomenal too!
In a nutshell, Bali combines #islandlife with trendy and tasty food. Everything is just perfection and you cannot go wrong with Bali as a holiday destination! Moreover, the sensational food coupled with Bali’s breathtaking nature is what makes it a number one holiday destination for me!
Hope you enjoyed the read, and let me know if you have been to Bali and what your faves are! Because I am sure I will go back again very soon!
Naturally,
Sweebs xx
